Born in Jerusalem in 1979, lives and works in Tel Aviv.
Ariel Caine's series of photographs and video works are characterized by a unique outlook on physical as well as virtual reality. Some of the compositions of his photographs are based on a horizontal or a bird's eye perspective that creates a panoramic image of the photographed space, an image that is paradoxically also disjointed, complex and detailed. His works maintain the tension between prolonged and focused look at a concrete urban reality, like the ongoing photographic project at Albert Square in Tel Aviv, and the non-sight that adopts the anonymous point of view of a satellite, in Google Earth photographs of the sites Bernd and Hilla Becher had photographed. Thus, with digital means, Ariel Caine imbues the virtual image with the values of traditional photography.
