Tomer Kep

Tomer Kep

Born in Jerusalem in 1978, lives and works in Tel Aviv.

Tomer Kep's photographs address his immediate domestic environment and the interrelations-integration, belonging, immigration, identity, and empathy-between the photographed figures and their surrounding space. The figures that populate the refined compositions seem incongruent with their surrounding. The point of departure for his preoccupation with these subjects is anchored explicitly in his family's biography, as a son of a father from a Cambodian origin and an Israeli mother. His work brings together the intimate and anonymous, personal narrative photography and meticulous formalism.
