Born in Petach Tikva in 1971, lives and works in Tel Aviv.
Shahar Marcus creates mostly videos, installations, and sculptures. In his numerous video works Marcus appears in the image of powerful figures in the worlds of art and politics, like the artist, the curator, the politician, and the general, and creates parodies on the representations of their power. He often uses organic materials and food and alludes to previous manifestations of food in the history of art. With his self-referential, humorist, and critical works he sheds light on the gap between the body image of the lofty figure and its human body, the talking mouth and the fed mouth.
