Liav Mizrahi

Liav Mizrahi

Born in Haifa in 1977, lives and works in Tel Aviv.

Liav Mizrahi is an artist, teacher, and independent curator. Mizrahi merges visual and iconographic art historical knowledge with an interest in the fringes and subcultures. His curatorial practice is often an aesthetic and conceptual expansion of his works. In some of his works, which deal with feelings of excommunication, not belonging, violence, death, and sexual desire, he offers an interesting and sensitive perspective on masculinity and defies the prevalent power relations in gender politics. The masculine portrait in his works is imbued with iconographic, cultural, and popular symbols. His diverse works are embodied in different work practices: soot drawings, paintings executed in different materials, sculptural objects, and writing.
