Hadas Satt's photographs and videos are subtle and low-key. They demand from their viewer attention and patience and offer him observation as a key principle. The conflicts they hold shift in the power balance between the image and the light that enables it and the gaze. At times Satt appropriates into her works existing images and plays with them to create a new organic image. Her approach to a familiar image bestows it with renewed vitality that attests to the sum of gazes already contained in it. Her images do not offer a representation of reality, but rather an alternative to the direct gaze, a search for a new gaze as an opportunity to create a story.
